REVIEW – WELL DRESSING AND CHATSWORTH HOUSE

Friday 17th July 2009 – 57 set off to view the Well Dressing at Hayfield and then onto Chatsworth House Our contact in Hayfield for the Well Dressing, Denise, who is also a member of the U3A had arranged for us to split into 4 groups and off we went.  The Well Dressings are works of art – all being made by local residents from petals, leaves, twigs even egg shells.  Some of the contributions that the children had done were excellent.  After coffee and home made cakes we continued on to Chatsworth – what can you say – stunning!!!  Full of treasures and wonderful paintings.  There was also an exhibition of some of the Oscar winning costumes from the film The Duchess.  Georgia, who was the subject of this film did live at Chatsworth and some of the film was taken here and some at Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire.  A great day – pity about the weather which didn’t behave.
