Christmas 2010

Well, it might seem too early to talk about Christmas 2010 but just a casual mention has provided an avalanche of enquiries and we have had to book well in advance to secure our place.  So here are the full details.  We will be celebrating a Mediaevil Christmas on Thursday 9th December 2010, departing from Central Square at 9.30am  and returning at 5pm.  We will be travelling to the 4* Mollington Bannastre Hotel, Chester, which is set in beautiful grounds and has an excellent reputation.  On arrival there will be tea/coffee/hot mince pies, a mediaevil Craft and Gift Fair - maybe buy some stocking fillers with a difference.  Full 3 course Christmas Lunch with choice of menu (includes vegetarian option) followed by tea/coffee and accompanied by entertainment.  After lunch there will be Carol singing.  All will be hosted by our Mediaevil Knights and Ladies.  If time allows we will pay a visit to Cheshire Oaks on the way home.  Price  £25  all inclusive.  Reservations are being taken now and a deposit is requested.  Visit us at our Tuesday Coffee Morning table or ring Marj 526 4665 or Irene 53l 6365 for any further details you may require.

Dunham Massey snowdrop walk 12 feb 2010

We left Maghull 9.45 on route to Dunham Massey snowdrop and winter walk and arrived in good time. On arrival 1st priority was refreshments in the oak beamed restaurant then on to the snowdrop walk. Along the way we came across aconites, hellebores, skimmias in bud and the seed pods of the giant lily perched on 7ft high stalks (cardiocrinum giganteum). I was determined to obtain some seeds and being over 6ft tall managed to reach a seed pod. On my return home I looked them up on the internet and my enthusiasm was soon dampened  as they take 9 years to grow and flower  and then they die. After our walk we all went back in the restaurant to have some Lunch before heading home and calling at Woodford Park Garden Centre for a coffee and browse around the plants.
