Architecture for Fun

Friday 21st May    South Liverpool parks.    This is a repeat of last year’s popular circular walk from Liverpool South Parkway station round Woolton woods, Calderstones Park, Allerton Towers and Clarkes Gardens. Meet at Maghull station for 10.00 train to Liverpool South Parkway (via Liverpool Central). Bring a sandwich lunch.

Friday 4th June      Newburgh / Ashurst  -  5 miles       Meet at Maghull station for 10.16 train to Ormskirk, connecting with 203 bus to Newburgh at 10.45. Bring a sandwich lunch. Names required as numbers limited by the bus capacity.

Thursday 24th June       Mersey Way      Meet at Maghull station for 10.00 train to South Parkway (via central) for 7.5 mile walk via Garston Village and Mersey Way to Hale Village (pub lunch available). Return by bus from Hale to Liverpool city centre.

Embellished textile and fashion at the Harris gallery, Preston.

Meet at Maghull station for the 09.30 train.

TRIPS UPDATE

Wed.16th June – Masson Mill Derbyshire – former textile mill now a shopping outlet, museum etc. Then step back in time to a Victorian Village where the Crich Tramway Village is.  Set in beautiful Derbyshire countryside.  Ride the trams, shop, coffee etc.  Dep.9.l5am  Ret.6pm   Price £l8 inc. admission and unlimited tram rides.

Fri.16th July - Leyburn, Yorkshire, with a visit to the Teapottery where they make quirky teapots, Chocolate Factory next door where we can have guided tours.  On to Hawes Creamery where the world famous Wensleydale Cheese is made – Wallace and Gromits favourite. Guided tour and demonstration.  Visitor Centre etc. Dep.8.30am  Ret.6pm  Price £15

Thurs.5th Aug – This is a new trip to Llandudno with all its attractions. Walk the Esplanade, take a tram ride up the Gt.Orme and have a coffee/bite to eat at the top with its spectacular views and maybe visit the Copper Mines. Take a vintage coach ride round the headland or the Land Tram from North Shore to West Shore. There are boat trips round the bay, shopping to please the most discerning perhaps even a paddle on its award winning Blue Standard Beach.  Dep.9.l5am  Ret. 6pm   Price £ll

Fri.3rd Sept. - Visit Bridgnorth the lovely floral historic market town with its funicular railway linking lower and upper town .  It is market day and there are plenty of shops, places to eat etc.  Onto Half Penny Green Vineyard for a guided tour, cream tea.  There are craft shops, a wine shop and we could even help with some harvesting!!  Dep.9.l5am  Ret.6pm  Price £20 inc. tour/cream tea

Thurs.9th Dec. – Medievil Christmas at Mollington Bannastre Hotel, Chester. Coffee/mince pies on arrival, 3 course lunch with entertainment, carol singing and if time allows a visit to Cheshire Oaks on the way back.  Dep.9.30am Ret.5pm  Price £25 inclusive

This trip has been arranged for Thursday 25th November 2010 – Departing at 9.30am and Returning to Central Square at 5.30pm
