DAY TRIP TO “THE LAKES” – Fri.8th October 2010

On a beautiful warm, sunny day we set off for our trip to the Lakes.  On arrival at Hayes Garden Centre, Ambleside, we were each greeted with a folder containing special offers and a small gift.  After a decent cup of coffee, cakes, scones etc.!!  some of us chose to stay here and browse whilst others went into  the pretty town of Ambleside.  After lunch we re-boarded our coach and travelled over the very scenic pass between Ambleside and Coniston, rich in autumn colours highlighted by golden autumnal sunshine.  On arrival in Coniston we boarded the Gondola, for our sail on Lake Coniston It is owned by the National Trust and is l50 years old.  It is the only one of its kind in the world and has been lovingly restored.
