Cycling

Our rides now start at 10.00, with refreshment break,  and mostly take place on Mondays.

Phil is checking out routes for a sea to sea ride for the more energetic rider. This is likely to take place in April or early May 2011. Contact Phil on526 0038.

THE HOTEL  is situated overlooking the North Bay with super views out to sea.  It is convenient for all amenities and is central for shopping, cafes, places of interest etc.  ALL ROOMS ARE EN-SUITE with TV., RADIO, TEA/COFFEE MAKING FACILITIES, HAIRDRYER, TELEPHONE, 24 HOUR RECEPTION.

PRICE: £199 per person (will be less when discount is applied) NO SINGLE ROOM SUPPLEMENT.  DEPOSIT £30 per person.

THURS. 10th Feb. Portland Hotel, Buxton for a trip down Memory Lane.  Time in Buxton to browse and then on to the Portland for an afternoon of nostalgia.  Dep.9.l5am  Ret.6pm  Price £l8.50 includes 3 course lunch and entertainment

THURS.10th March – Garstang and a visit to the Art Deco Midland Hotel, Morecambe. Time in the ancient town of Garstang and it is market day. Onto the lovingly restored Midland Hotel for a guided tour and cream tea.  Dep.9.45am  Ret.6pm  Price £l8 includes tour and cream tea.

EXTRA TRIP – THURS.24th March – Due to the enormous reserve list we had for this trip on the 10th March, a second coach has been arranged. The itinerary will be the same as before departing 9.45am returning 6pm. Price £l8 inc.guided tour/cream tea

WED.20th April – National Memorial Arboretum. An opportunity to visit this special place dedicated to those who have served and are serving our country in the Armed and Civilian Services.  Guidance notes will be provided.  If time allows a visit to Lichfield  with its spectacular cathedral.  Dep.8.30am  Ret.6pm  Price £11

WED.18th May – Visit to the place in Wales with the longest name ending in …gogogoch.  Photo opportunity, shopping, cafe etc. Onto Plas Newyd the stunning 18th Century home of the Marquis of Anglesey. Set on the banks of the Menai Straits with spectacular views of Snowdonia.  Dep.8.30am  Ret.6pm  Price £l6.50  Nat.Trust Members £9.30 inc.house/gardens

FRI.17th June – A full day guided tour of the Ribble Valley with Simon Entwistle.  Simon is a well known authority on all the tales there are to tell.  He has made many TV appearances and was the presenter for the Granada series “Into the Unknown” guiding viewers round the haunted halls of Wales, Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria.  More recently he has appeared on BBC Countryfile.  Dep.9.l5am  Ret.6pm  Price £14

THURS.7th July – Visit to Codsall and Wergs Garden Centre for coffee and t0 have some lunch.  Onto David Austin at Albrighton Nr.Wolverhampton, world famous rose growers, for an informative  guided tour of their rose gardens followed by a cream tea.  Dep.9.l5am  Ret.6pm,  Price £18 includes tour and cream tea

FRI.12th August – Visit to Grosvenor Garden Centre.  Time to browse.  Delicious home made food at reasonable cost and it is Farmers’ Market Day.  Onto Chester for a cruise on the River Dee, on one of their lovely river boats.  Down as far as Ironbridge.  Dep.9.l5am  Ret.6pm  Price £l9.50 includes river cruise
