“Good food & Flamenco”

The Spanish Group recently enjoyed this cultural event at the Bootle Arms, where  Enrique Ferrias and his grandson Leon, entertained them with traditional Spanish Music – some of the group, as can be seen, entered into  the spirit of the occasion, ‘con gusto’.

OPEN UNIVERSITY

The OU has provided on the web over 5000 hours of study material FREE. All you have to do is go to the website, browse and then register ( it’s easy and it’s free ) and study a unit of your own choice. It’s all very exciting. This is the website: http://www.open.ac.uk/openlearn/home.php
The learning material is arranged in units which take from 4 to 50 hours to study. There are currently over 400 units arranged in 13 Topic Areas ranging from Arts & History to Business & Management and Science & Nature.
This is very adaptable for U3A purposes as a means of individual or group study, in the form of a single unit or a series of units.
N.B. When you register with OPEN LEARN, please add the tag ‘”U3A MEMBER’ to your list of interests on your profile so that members can more easily ‘find’ each other on the OPEN LEARN site.

Clear those bookshelves!

If you have books in very good condition you may like to donate to U3A. Bring them to the Book Club Table any Tuesday where we will offer them for sale to other U3A members, in aid of U3A funds. We like to offer for sale only books in very good condition unless they are of special interest where condition is of secondary importance.
…. or you may like to simply give them away……..?For a fascinating way to do this take a look at www.bookcrossing.com. See how some people are setting their books free for for others to read and tracking their progress around the globe
